Weekly Samurai Sudoku X

Filed under: Samurai sudoku — djape @ 10:06 am

Samurai X for Tuesday, January 31 – this is the only place you can find these kind of Sudoku puzzles!

Basically, not only do you have to fight against 5 interconnected Sudokus, but you also need to be carefull about the diagonals: ALL diagonals in the puzzle must contain one occurrence of each 1-9 digit. The diagonals are marked in the puzzle so you wouldn’t forget about them.

WARNING: This is another very difficult Samurai X puzzle.

Butterfly Sudoku Killer X

Filed under: Overlapping Puzzles — djape @ 1:08 pm

Here is this weekend’s special – a unique and never-seen-before Killer Butterfly X

There are 4 “classic” 9×9 Sudoku puzzles inside this one. They all overlap and they all must be solved according to the rules of Sudoku and Killer Sudoku. You can use Twin Nonets solving technique for this one!

However, in contrast with the previous Killer Butterfly, this puzzle must have all numbers from 1 to 9 on ALL diagonals in the puzzle. There are 8 diagonals altogether – make sure you take good care of them.

Warning: This puzzle could be dangerous to your mental health. Do not attempt if not confident!

UPDATE: I had a fair number of people expressing interest and commending Butterfly puzzles, so I intend to promote them a bit more. Therefore, as of Monday January 30, expect at least 2 Butterfly (X) puzzles every week on the Daily Sudoku page.

Harakiri Sudoku X

Filed under: Overlapping Puzzles — djape @ 7:35 pm

Yet another – first ever – puzzle from Perfect Sudoku – Sudoku Harakiri X!

Basically, it’s a double-Samurai puzzle: 8 classic sub-puzzles, which of course don’t have their own (unique) solutions but all together constitute a puzzle with a single solution. This time, however, you must also pay attention to diagonals: ALL diagonals in the puzzle must contain all numbers from 1 to 9. The diagonals are marked in the puzzle so you wouldn’t forget them.

Sudoku Killer Insane – with Quad Symmetry

Filed under: General — djape @ 8:19 am

I just uploaded an INSANE Killer puzzle to Daily Killer page. Not only that it has the highest difficulty ranking, but it’s also fully symmetrical, just like yesterday’s BRAIN puzzle. Normally, Sudoku Killer puzzles have “rotational” (or diagonal) symmetry, but I have enhanced my generator to create puzzles with any symmetry – rotational, horizontal, vertical, full (quad) or none at all.

This should take you through the weekend :) … or will there be someone to claim that this puzzle is also too easy!?

Enjoy!

Killer Butterfly

Filed under: Overlapping Puzzles — djape @ 10:16 am

I don’t know if there is a species that go under that name and if there are, my apologies to them.

Another world premiere Sudoku variation puzzle – Butterfly Killer Sudoku. Thanks to one of our regular visitors udosuk for suggesting this concept – this should encourage you to suggest a layout for overlapping puzzles and I’ll attempt to create them.

Back to the puzzle – there are 4 “classic” 9×9 Sudoku puzzles inside this one. They all overlap and they all must be solved according to the rules of Sudoku. You can use Twin Nonets solving technique for this one!

By the way, I also posted a “Butterfly X” on the Daily Sudoku page – it’s the same layout as this one, but it’s not a Killer.
