CalcuDoku

In order to avoid any further confusion with KenKen(R) and KenDoku(TM) trademarks of Nextoy, LLC, I have changed the name of these puzzles to CalcuDoku.

This name is also used by other publishers but it is not trademarked.

If you ask me, OpDoku or CalDoku sounds better. :P

But these naming/copyright issues are annoying. :(

I think Calcudoku is fine – Conceptis uses this amd it helps us identify the puzzles better. I think the copyright holder of KenKen is doing his puzzles a disservice by forcing it so that no one else can use it; Sudoku flourishes because everyone knows what they are, but once you set up different names for puzzles, it gets confusing and people sometimes don’t find new sources. Calcudoku might be owned by Conceptis, it might be worth investigating.

Conceptis has a book called “Calcudoku and Sudoku”. I see no problems there.

Conceptis site has Calcudoku puzzles. Site is pay per puzzle now.

If the – op and the / op take more than 2 cells, this would seem to be a radical departure from conventional KenKen.

The name Kenken is protected by Nextoy.
