3 new books: “The Way of Samurai volume 3″, “Picross, Hanjie, Griddlers, Nonograms: 130 puzzles” and “Square Wisdom: 200 CalcuDoku puzzles, volume 2″

Filed under: CalcuDoku, General, Samurai sudoku, Sudoku Straights, hanjie (griddlers) — djape @ 11:39 pm

I’ve published 3 more books through CreateSpace: two new volumes of old books and one book that is new for Amazon. Here is what they are:

  • The Way of Samurai: 105 Samurai Sudoku puzzles, volume 3
  • Square Wisdom: 200 KenDoku puzzles, volume 2
  • Picross, Hanjie, Griddlers, Nonograms: 130 puzzles (please read below!)
  • Although first two books don’t need too much introduction, here is a brief description:

  • The Way of Samurai 3:
  • 80 classic, 20 diagonal and 5 surprise Samurai Sudokus! While all puzzles are new, one of the surprise Samurais is extra special: no such puzzle has ever been published before – it’s a Samurai Sudoku Straights puzzle.

  • Square Wisdom: 200 CalcuDoku puzzles, vol. 2:
  • Everything is exactly the same as in volume 1, except of course that the puzzles are all new.

    and finally…

  • Picross, Hanjie, Griddlers, Nonograms: 130 puzzles
  • This book is completely new for Amazon. However, I must tell you that a few of the puzzles in this book have already been printed in my LuLu book “Hanjie: 60 puzzles”. For various reason it had to be that way, primarily because of the way these puzzles are created.

These books are also available for download as e-books from LuLu:

    Sudoku Straights

Filed under: General, Sample puzzles, Sudoku Straights — djape @ 6:45 pm

It’s only Wednesday, but I decided to present you with another Sudoku Straights puzzle. Remember that they are shown every Friday on the Daily Sudoku page.

    The rules:
    1. Use numbers 1-9. Numbers cannot be repeated in rows/columns.
    2. There are no nonets (3×3 boxes) like in other Sudoku puzzles.
    3. Black cells do not contain numbers. Therefore, not all numbers 1-9 will appear in all rows/columns. (Be careful when applying hidden singles!)
    4. And the main rule: numbers in one row/column that are between two black cells (or between a black cell and the border) must constitute a sequence, or if you prefer poker (texas hold’em or whatever) terminology, they must constitute a straight. Now, do not confuse this with consecutive sudoku! The numbers can be in any order, adjacent numbers need not be consecutive! Just like in poker.

Introducing “Sudoku Sequences” or “Sudoku Straights”

Filed under: General, Sample puzzles, Sudoku Straights — djape @ 9:12 pm

Here is a brand new Sudoku variation as a special Christmas present. Hope you will like it.

    The rules:

    Merry Christmas folks!

UPDATE: A new “Sudoku Straights” puzzle will be shown every Friday on the Sudoku page.
